Put Bad Passengers on Do Not Disturb

Safe Driving Saves Lives

Your good safe driving habits will ensure you are driving safely and that those riding with you are safe too! Be a positive role model in your car and community.   Before you start driving make sure you buckle up and put your phone on do not disturb. If you are driving to a new location – get directions and/or allow Bluetooth to stream.

No one wants to get a ticket for distracted driving. And you certainly don’t want to cause a crash because you decided to read or send a text. When driving, follow these steps:

  • Activate your phone’s “Do Not Disturb” feature until you arrive at your destination.
  • No text message is worth the risk of a fine or a crash.  If there is a need to send a message or take a call, pull over and park your car in a safe location.
  • In addition, if you are riding with a friend or family member you can ask a passenger to be your “designated texter.” Allow them access to your phone to respond to important calls or messages.
  • Do not engage in social media scrolling or messaging while driving.

You should never be embarrassed to do the right thing. It’s more embarrassing—and costly—to have a law enforcement officer stop you and give you a ticket for your dangerous behavior. It would be an absolute nightmare to be responsible for injuring or killing another driver or pedestrian.
