Many of us always buckle up in the front but when we move to the back there is lower seat belt use by many of us. I think we may have a false sense of safety in the back seat! It is interesting that the younger you are the higher your seat belt use is in the back. If we care that much for our kiddos, we should have the same care for our family, friends and yes ourselves.
A recent study by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety found that backseat passengers don’t wear their seatbelts as often as the front seat passengers. If you have ever been in a car crash, you know that the laws of physics don’t discriminate – everyone in the car is at risk if they are not properly restrained. Football season is under way and this is a great time to send this reminder – your best defense in a car crash is your seatbelt!
